Grammar Explanation

Use the Simple Present for state verbs that describe facts, value, measurement, connection, or what something contains. These verbs usually describe a condition, not an action happening now.

Use the Present Progressive for active verbs when something is happening now or around now. For example, a box contains books, but a person is packing books into a box.
