1. Present Simple
Used for routines, facts, repeated actions, and permanent situations.
I work in an office in Frankfurt.
[Ich arbeite in einem Büro in Frankfurt.]
→ Permanent situation / fact
She drinks coffee every morning.
[Sie trinkt jeden Morgen Kaffee.]
→ Routine / habit
2. Present Continuous
Used for actions happening now, temporary situations, or developing situations.
I am working from home this week.
[Ich arbeite diese Woche von zu Hause.]
→ Temporary situation
They are discussing the new project right now.
[Sie besprechen gerade das neue Projekt.]
→ Happening now
3. Present Perfect
Used for past actions connected to the present.
I have visited London three times.
[Ich habe London dreimal besucht.]
→ Experience
She has already finished the report.
[Sie hat den Bericht bereits fertiggestellt.]
→ Result in the present
4. Present Perfect Continuous
Used for actions continuing over a period of time.
I have been learning English for five years.
[Ich lerne seit fünf Jahren Englisch.]
→ Continuing activity
She has been working all afternoon.
[Sie arbeitet schon den ganzen Nachmittag.]
→ Duration until now
5. Past Simple
Used for completed actions in the past.
We visited Berlin last summer.
[Wir haben letzten Sommer Berlin besucht.]
→ Finished action
He missed the train yesterday.
[Er hat gestern den Zug verpasst.]
→ Specific past event
6. Past Continuous
Used for actions in progress at a past moment.
I was reading when the phone rang.
[Ich las gerade, als das Telefon klingelte.]
→ Interrupted action
They were driving through the city all evening.
[Sie fuhren den ganzen Abend durch die Stadt.]
→ Ongoing past activity
7. Past Perfect
Used for an action completed before another past action.
She had left before I arrived.

→ Earlier past action
We had already eaten when they called.

→ Completed before another event
8. Past Perfect Continuous
Used for longer actions continuing before another past action.
I had been waiting for an hour before the bus arrived.

She had been studying all night.

→ Continuing action in the past
9. Future Simple (will)
Used for predictions, spontaneous decisions, and future facts.
I will call you tomorrow.
[Ich werde dich morgen anrufen.]
→ Future action
I think it will rain later.
[Ich denke, es wird später regnen.]
→ Prediction
10. Future Continuous
Used for actions that will be in progress at a future moment.
This time tomorrow, I will be flying to London.

→ Future action in progress
She will be working during the conference.
[Sie wird während der Konferenz arbeiten.]
→ Ongoing future activity
11. Future Perfect
Used for actions completed before a future point in time.
By next year, I will have finished my course.

→ Completed before a future moment
They will have arrived before midnight.

12. Future Perfect Continuous
Used for actions continuing up to a future point.
