Travel Grammar: Simple vs Progressive

Simple vs Progressive: The Traveler's Choice

Learn to distinguish between your travel habits and what you are doing right now.

Grammar Explanation

When traveling, we switch between describing general routines and specific moments:

1. Present Simple (The "Itinerary"): Used for facts, habits, or things that happen regularly.
Keywords: always, usually, every year, often, never.

2. Present Progressive (The "Snapshot"): Used for actions happening at this exact moment or temporary situations.
Keywords: now, at the moment, right now, "Look!", "Listen!".

Feature Present Simple Present Progressive
Focus Routine / Permanent Action in progress / Temporary
Example I take photos on every trip. I am taking a photo right now.
Negative I don't travel often. I am not traveling today.

Tip: "Stative" verbs like want, need, like, and know almost always stay in the Simple form!
