Reported Speech 3 — Commands & Requests

We use told + object + to + verb for commands.

Example: “Close the door.” → He told me to close the door.
[„Schließ die Tür.“ → Er sagte mir, ich solle die Tür schließen.]

We use asked + object + to + verb for requests.

Example: “Please help me.” → He asked me to help him.
[„Bitte hilf mir.“ → Er bat mich, ihm zu helfen.]

For negative commands, we use not to.

Example: “Don’t go.” → He told me not to go.
[„Geh nicht.“ → Er sagte mir, ich solle nicht gehen.]
