We use the Present Perfect Simple to focus on a finished result or "how many."
We use the Present Perfect Continuous to focus on the activity, duration, or "how long."

Note: Often it is possible to use both the Simple Perfect and Simple Perfect Progressive (Continuous) with verbs like live or work with almost no change in meaning.
