Actions, routines, habits, and everyday verbs
We use do / does when the sentence has a normal action verb.
Example: Do you live here?

For German speakers:
Use do / does when the question is about an action like live, work, play, eat, or like.
do = used with I / you / we / they
[do = mit I / you / we / they]
Do you work here?
[Arbeitest du hier?]
does = used with he / she / it
[does = mit he / she / it]
Does she speak English?
[Spricht sie Englisch?]
Simple memory help:
If there is an action verb and no is / are / was / were, you usually need do / does.
Typical action verbs are:
live – work – like – play – eat – drink – drive – study
They show that we are talking about an action or habit, not a state.
